About Me - Donald Dodge

Hey! What's goin on?

If you're here, that means you took interest in my photos and wanted to learn a bit more about the man behind the action. Well, let me humor that thought and give you a bit about myself!

My name is Don. I've taken photos for the better part of my life, but it wasn't until recently that I decided it may be wise to up and do it on a professional level. When I was younger, I'd often mess around with those little yellow Kodak disposable cameras... everyone has to start somewhere right?

I picked up my first SLR in 2012 when I was attending the US Merchant MArine Academy in Kings Point, NY. I'd often taken photos around NYC and the local zoos, but never stayed consistent enough to reach any level of extreme competency.

I then went to FL for work from 2014-2016. With no mountains and no real zest for that environment, I only really took sunset photos....

I moved to CA in 2016 for work, and instantly rekindled my relationship with the mountains. I'd spend every moment I could up in the Sierras, taking photos and hiking. I finished work in late 2017, which offered me the freedom to choose where I'd go from there. I figured I'd explore the PNW and head over to see what Montana had to offer.

This is when I decided to stick it out and seriously pursue photography - basing myself in Whitefish MT. IT offers me the mountains I so long for and offers a great community of friendly community based individuals.

As I expand my photographic skills and grow my business, my intention is to use these images to provide a vessel in which I can bring about awareness of mountain peaks and ecosystems. How their role in the human experience and overall function on our planet is of utmost importance to me, and I feel my purpose is to protect and preserve these places for not only mountain athletes, animals and general public, but also for generations to come. The majesty of the mountains is something we need to take care in.
